Creative 3-30-12

Revised:

A Mended Heart
There was only pain, because there was no affection
I asked myself, “what do I want to see?”
The answer was simple, a connection
With the one who always seemed to flee

Do I deserve this type of treatment?
All I seem to do is wait around
For someone to be in agreement
With all that I have ever found

But I seem to have found something new
Someone to carry me until the end
One that will always continue to be true
I am slowly but eagerly on the mend
Maybe one day it will end in a wedding bell
And this will become a story that I will tell
(or be a story that I won’t have to tell)

Critical 3-30-12

I think in Thomas Hardy's poem "Hap", he is stating that if some else decided his life for him and told him you are suffering for my pure enjoyment then maybe that would be alright. Then he turns around and wonders why someone did something to his joy, "how arrives it joy lies slain", I think what Hardy is trying to say about pain is if you never knew anything else then it would be no different. When talking about gladness he is saying that you are always developing new happiness. But if you were never to know happiness then you would not be searching for new or better happiness and therefore you wouldn't have to go through pain in between. I would relate Hap to Hardy's poem Neutral Tones because to me they both have this dark, sad, depressing kind of feel to them when I read them. Neutral Tones is about a break up and Hap is about pain .So in a sense they are both about similar feelings.
